Own a Piece of Richard Grieco's 21 Jump Street History

Blue Jean Red contains a piece of 21 Jump Street history--scraps of jeans that Richard wore on the show.
If you love Richard Grieco's artwork and were a fan of Booker, you have the opportunity to obtain a one-of-a-kind painting that's also a rare bit of memorabilia. A news article yesterday mentioned that these jeans were on set with Johnny Depp, but I'm sure if you're reading this blog, you're more interested in where else they've been ;)

I love that Richard kept these jeans for more than 20 years, and what it seems to say that two decades later, he cut them up and incorporated them into his artwork.

You can't just walk in and buy this painting, though. Demand is expected to be high, and it's going to the highest bidder in a silent auction.

Bidding starts at $16,600. You can bid by email to GallerieSparta@gmail.com.

It's not clear at this point how long bidding is open, but I'm trying to obtain that information and will update as soon as possible.

A high auction price should bring some well-deserved media attention to Richard's artwork, so please share!

UPDATE: According to Gallerie Sparta co-owner Lee Bowers, bidding closes at midnight Pacific time on September 6. See the current bid or submit a bid at: http://www.galleriesparta.com/silentauction.html

The Votes are In - Richard Grieco is Hot

Yeah, I know that's not big news to most of you.  And you know that I decided the question wasn't really open to debate after I ran across this recent photo.  But that little poll has been ticking away over in the right hand sidebar (still open if you haven't voted) and thus far, 65% of you think Richard is as hot as or hotter than ever.  Another 20% chose, "It's not 1989, but he's still pretty hot."

Here's the exact tally so far:

Is Richard Grieco Hot in 2013?

Hotter than ever - 16 votes

Always has been, always will be - 36 votes

It's not 1989, but he's still pretty hot - 16 votes

He's okay - 2 votes

Once upon a time, but he looks terrible now - 8 votes

Never was, never will be - 1 vote

It's not too late to weigh in!  Look to the right to cast your vote!

Booker Was Never Really My Type, Anyway

A few weeks ago, I posed the question, "Is Richard Grieco still hot in 2013?"  I asked the question because reactions on the Internet seem so widely varied, and because...let's face it...no one in his late forties looks like Richard Grieco did in 1989.  Hell, the vast majority of men in their twenties don't come close to looking like Richard Grieco did in 1989.

I'm officially withdrawing the question.

Well, not technically. The little poll is still down there in the lower right-hand corner and you're free to respond, but I no longer consider this an opinion question.  See, yesterday I found this:

So...that settles that.

I found this in a post from on the Huffington Post blog; it probably doesn't say anything you don't already know, but it has a couple of other nice pics I hadn't seen before (all taken by Richard's sister, Laura).

Richard Grieco in After Midnight

For a television producer / painter, Richard Grieco has a lot of movies in various stages of production.  In addition to the two we already knew were slated for release in 2013 (A House is Not a Home and AE: Apocalypse Earth) and one in pre-production with no announced release date (Coachella Massacre), I've just gotten wind of a third movie in post and slated for release later this year.  It's called After Midnight, and appears to be a mystery.  Tawny Kitaen also has a role in this one.  I haven't seen her in years, but recent photos indicate that she's aging beautifully...and slowly.

I haven't been able to find a lot of additional information about After Midnight yet, but Dylan Vox, who also appears in the film, recently blogged about shooting.  He says, "...Richard was a total pro and was such a nice guy to be around..."

I'll admit that I'm a little uncertain about the powers behind this one. Writer/director Fred Olen Ray's "known for" on IMDB is Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers and the company behind it, Retromedia, has a lot of offerings with "Bikini" in the titles.  Still, with what looks like a lot of sci fi and horror in the works (and in recent years), I'm looking forward to a film that bills itself as a "mystery".

Is Richard Grieco Hot in 2013?

I've rarely seen a man get such mixed reviews.  Sure, back in 1989 it was pretty much universally agreed that Richard Grieco was fatally sexy unrealistically hot a good looking guy. Even if he wasn't your type, there was no denying that.

Fast forward 20 years and the question seems to have become downright controversial.  There's a faction that seems still unable to look at Richard (or even hear his name) without thinking about chewing off those tattered jeans...but an equally vocal group that can't go on enough about how badly he's aged (and also wants to throw in a bunch of possible explanations, including drugs, bad plastic surgery and various serious illnesses).

So, I'm taking a poll. You'll find at the bottom of the right hand column for the next few weeks.  I'm not voting myself--not yet, anyway.  But I'm including a few recent photos to help you make your decision.  Contrary to the subject line, they're not all from 2013; the year just started, after all.  But they're all recent enough to be representative of what Richard Grieco looks like today.  And I was careful not to choose either the best or worst photos I could find.

Take some time to contemplate them--take as much time as you like.  Then, pop down to the lower right hand corner of the page and tell me what you think.
